3 mile high club & project round up.

So I have been a busy girl, despite my best efforts to start as many projects as I have knitting needles and crochet hooks (and that is a lot believe me), and I actually managed to finish some. At the beginning of the year I did a huge de-stash and have made a concerted effort to work on projects that are already started or use only yarn I already have. In an all time personal record I have made it all the way until now with only buying a few balls of yarn mostly one’s needed to finish projects AND I am still managing to keep on that path. After finding Knitmeter.com I was curious enough to enter all of the projects I have finished this year. The only rule is that it doesn’t count as being out of the stash until it is off the needles. I have been watching the number of yards grow and grow and this week I hit the 3 mile mark! That doesn’t even count the approximately 400 yards I’ve done on the Boneyard shawl I’m almost done with or any of the multiple half done projects still sitting here staring at me.

Now to this week’s impressive bunch of finished objects (not really all that impressive because they are all small, but there is a lot of them). I love the video podcast The Knit Girllls. They have a very active group on Ravelry and host lots of KAL’s, SAL’s and even a swap. This swap is a 12″ knit block swap where you have 2 months to get your partner their swap package. Well, I was thinking the deadline for mailing was the end of the month (nothing like waiting almost 2 months until the deadline right?). Not quite a week ago figured out the deadline was that it had to be mailed today so that there is time for it to arrive by the end of the month. OMG! So, I managed to knit the block, 2 dish/washclothes (actually 5 because “the girl” stole 2 and I frogged one 90% of the way finished), a Grumpysaurus, and an angel bookmark. Here is what the package looked like before I sent it off. All in all I think not a bad weeks worth of knitting and crocheting.

All of these are free patterns and links to all of those patterns can be found from my Ravelry page: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/addknitter00

Also, I think I forgot to post the Mother’s day gift I made for my mom. The pattern is called “Fallberry Mitts” from Knitty.com. However, they look more like “Springberry Mitts” in the lighter colors and sock yarn. I hand dyed the yarn to be like Spring in a garden. It has lots of yellow, which is her favorite color.  We had a very nice visit out on the patio in gorgeous Spring weather that ended up almost being too hot to sit outside. It was so nice that I started wondering if she would be able to use the fingerless mitts before the Fall after all. Then, last weekend she texted me that they had gotten 4″ of snow and expected more. What the heck?! In the middle of May? Oh well, at least she had the mitts.

Gotta love my crooked rings. I think I’m not a very good model.

Last, but not least some sleepy kitty porn:

Yang's prayer: “Dear Lord, please make Yin quit sitting in my spot in the window, please remove screens from said window so I can go get those noisy birds, please make my parents feed me people food, please make my big brother quit ninja attacking me, please make mom give me the recliner for my very own. Amen.”

Hello world!

Welcome to my new blog. Up until now I have been using Ravelry to post about my projects, but I felt I just needed to say a bit more about them. Since I’m never short on words about knitting, spinning, or crochet I decided to start a blog.

I’m not going to do an introduction, since I’m sure over the course of the blog I will be saying enough about myself for anyone on the planet to know me. The one thing I will explain is the name, which you have already probably guessed anyway… yes, we have 6 cats. There I said it… They are constantly in my yarn and “carding” my wool for me so they are a big part of my fiber world. One of the kittens likes to come up and lay down on whatever ball of yarn I’m working from so that he can play with it as I pull it out from under him.

So that I don’t make this first post too long I’ll end it here but since I’ve been very busy with a bunch of projects and dying some wool I will be putting up a few more posts in the next couple of days.
